“The Con,” as she refers to herself in third person, is a girl with a voice. Not a girl with a guitar, or a girl with a piano (well, not all the time), just a girl with a voice. Inspired by the classic crooners and introduced at a young age to the wonders of choral singing, Chantelle pursues an ecclectic (occasionally avant-garde) musical path encompassing traditional and modern classical music, vocal jazz and pop standards, and contemporary singer-songwriter repertoire. Chantelle is currently the lead singer for the Manhattan, KS, based rock band “Lithus,” as well half of the "hobo" folk band “Hotel Gypsies.”
Chantelle aims to not only bring “classic” music– music of former generations that has stood the test of time– to a younger audience but to also promote the creation of new music and the development of new “classics” that will endure for years to come. She views music, and the creation thereof, as an art to be enjoyed as much via the process as in the final product. She believes in art– first of all “for art’s sake,” second for entertainment… and somewhere down the line, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to afford a cup of coffee and a tank of gas.
In other words, she’s a musical neo-hippie.
Who can sing a high C.
